Home Is Where the Heart Is
I’m sure those of you who read my previous post instantly thought, “Sue, home is where the heart is!” If you had told me this, however, I would have poo pooed you, but after unpacking mom and dad Dalrymple and arranging their new home, I realize that this is true. Yes, I will miss 1915 Bidwell Way, but it wasn’t the house that was so special, but the people. I truly love Heath’s parents like they are my very own. Sure dad gets grumpy and gives one too many lectures, and mom eats way too much candy and wastes time watching day time TV, but I love them and they are the “peace parentsâ€? in my life.
Last night the kids and I unpacked their playroom at the new home. We organized the toys, set up a game table and a separate coloring table. We made a cute living room area out of beanbags, plastic end tables and an old rug. Tonight Heath will put the mattresses in our garage on the pull out beds, and the TV will be placed on the bar.
Mom has carefully placed all her blue and white Spode in the dining room cabinet and pops has made himself comfortable in the den. A plethora of familiar bowls sit on a black bakers rack, and the refrigerator is stocked with Pepsi and salami. Everything seems to be as it should be.
Change is hard, but it can also make you realize what is truly important in life…relationships. Home is where the heart is.
