I'm usually the one who has to apologize, but I just get super defensive and say, "why can't you just see where I'm coming from and lend me some grace?" I can tell you, however reasonable this response sounds, it doesn't help end the fight. So, as I tell my kids, what is the goal of my response, assurance of my rights or reconciliation.
